From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 11): 7th Infantry deploys (101) personnel to ' Yolanda' damaged areas in the Visayas

The Nueva Ecija-based 7th Infantry Division on Monday will be deploying 101 personnel (four officers and 97 enlisted personnel) to help in the ongoing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations in the "Yolanda" battered Visayas Region.

Brig. Gen. Hernanda DCA Iriberri, 7th Infantry Division commanding officer, said that these men will be "repositioned"at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City prior their flight to the affected areas.

Iriberri personally inspected his men and their HADR equipment during Monday's send-off ceremonies.

"This will be an opportunity to help our fellow Filipinos who were struck by the devastating typhoon," he added.

Iriberri also recalled that exactly a month ago (Oct. 11), the onslaught of Typhoon “Santi” caused significant damage to 7th Infantry Division facilities and structures and is still in the process of recovering from the effects of the said catastrophe.

“Despite all of these, we remained focused in our resolve to accomplish our mission. We have just experienced the difficulties and hardships brought about by these kinds of events that is why we are determined to offer our help” he stressed.

Iriberri also told his men to demonstrate the proper attitude and do not to engage in any form of illegal activities in the conduct of HADR in the area, and exert utmost patience and tolerance must be implemented in controlling the crowd of people.

Lastly, he instructed the troopers to take good care of their health and to be security conscious at all times and to perform their task as mandated by the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
