From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 11): 3 soldiers were hurt in separate encounters with armed group

Three soldiers were hurt in separate encounter between the Army and armed group believed to be members of the New People's Army here in the region on Tuesday.

Reports from Butuan City Police Office mentioned that an encounter between the Army troopers belonging to the Bravo Company of the 29th Infantry Battalion led by 2Lt. Belano encountered a fully armed group at Sitio Lamosing, Brgy. Tungao, Butuan City, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

An ensuing firefight which had lasted for 15 minutes which resulted to the wounding of an Army personnel whose name is still withheld as of press time. The armed group fled to unknown direction and were now pursued by the government troopers.

Police in the city as well as the adjacent police stations were alerted and were instructed to conduct checkpoints to negate further movements and atrocities of the fleeing rebels.

Meanwhile, 2 soldiers were also hurt in a separate encounter between Army troopers and the NPA rebels 4:00 p.m. Tuesday in Brgy. Siagao, San Miguel town in Surigao del Sur.

Report from Surigao del Sur Police mentioned that the government soldiers from the 1st Platoon, Bravo Company of the 36 Infantry Battalion, PA led by 1Lt. Adajar, encountered about 30 fully armed men believed to be NPA rebels in the aforementioned area. A firefight ensued which lasted for an hour and thirty minutes which resulted to the wounding of two soldiers identified as PFC Rhime D. Detado who sustained gunshot wounds on his two legs and PFC Michael Herdiles who was wounded on the arm.

Operating troopers are now conducting pursuit operations.
