From Tempo (May 21): ASG abducts Marine sarge’s wife

Suspected Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) gunmen seized Saturday morning the wife of a Marine sergeant who is a hospital employee in Jolo, Sulu.

Military report identified the victim as Casilda Villarasa Marcos, a medical technologist in Sulu Provincial Hospital, which is just a few meters away from the Sulu Provincial Police Office in Jolo, the capital town of Sulu.

The report said Marcos and her nine-year-old daughter were about to enter the gate of the hospital where she works when four gunmen appeared and dragged her to a waiting black van around 6:30 a.m.

The daughter managed to run away while her mother was being taken by the gunmen to the van with no plate number, which sped off to unknown direction.

Police and the military authorities immediately mounted a rescue operation for the victim.
