7th ID soldiers plant 800 narra, mahogany saplings

From the Philippine News Agency (May 23): 7th ID soldiers plant 800 narra, mahogany saplings

The 7th Infantry Division based in Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija, has planted 800 mahogany and narra young trees in their camp area last May 21.

The tree planting took place at Fort Ramon Magsaysay Military Reservation (FMMR) which is located at Barangay Liwayway, Sta. Rosa Tuesday.

The planting is part of the 7th Infantry Division's pre-celebration of the country's 115th Independence Day.

Around 400 personnel participated in this re-greening activities.

“As we celebrate and commemorate our 115th year of independence as a country, this tree planting signifies not just our environmental responsibility as soldiers and our love for our nation as Filipinos but most importantly, our legacy for the next Filipino generations whose future is said to be in danger because of the environmental depletions we are having now,” 7th Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang, Jr. said.

“As for the FMMR, we will continue to program activities like this and align them with the commemoration of our country’s important occasions and bring up Fort Magsaysay as one of the best tourist destinations here in Nueva Ecija and the entire Central Luzon,” he added.
