The 4TH Infantry “Diamond” Division is participating in the Department of Education's (DepEd) nationwide “Brigada Eskwela" 2013 this week or May 20-25, Maj. Leo Bongosia, spokesperson of the army’s division command here said on Wednesday.
He said that the army division sent personnel to various public schools in Cagayan de Oro City as personnel in the division’s field offices in the region also participated the “Brigada Eskwela” in their areas of responsibility.
Bongosia said that the activity gave the Army the opportunity to showcase the Internal Peace Security Plan, “Bayanihan", as one of the stakeholders for development.
Brigada Eskwela aims to prepare schools for the opening of classes on June 3 where all concerned government agencies, private entities, and parents join hands in the cleaning and maintenance of schools, Bongosia added.
Better known as National Schools Maintenance Week, it is an annual school maintenance program of the DepEd which started in 2003.
