Moros especially in Zamboanga City and Sulu are warned not to be duped into believing that the MILF is recruiting members of the so-called Bangsamoro Police after the government and MILF signed the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro in Malacañang Palace on October 15. Unscrupulous persons posing as MILF officials are asking young Moros to apply for membership in the proposed Bangsamoro Police and are asked to fill-up an application form and afterward asked them to pay for P500.00 as filing fee. The applicants were also assured of a slot if they pay P2,000.00. Most cases of this false recruitment were reported in Zamboanga and Sulu. Similar incidents were also reported in Tawi-Tawi. Asked to comment on this, Jun Mantawil, head of the MILF peace panel secretariat, branded the recruitment as plain and simple syndicate. “How could the MILF recruit policemen when the issue of policing is yet to be discussed by the parties this month in Kuala Lumpur?” he asked....
