A military official has clarified it was not the entire Army battalion that was pulled out but just its augmentation unit to Task Force Kitaco, named after the towns of Kiblawan (Davao del Sur), Tampakan (South Cotabato) and Columbio (Sultan Kudarat). Lt. Col. Lyndon Paniza, spokesperson of the 10th Infantry Division, said only a unit of the 27th Infantry Battalion was replaced by the 39th IB, purposely to decrease the tension in the area following the Oct 18 incident that killed B’laan tribal leader Daguil Capion’s wife and two sons. Paniza also said Capt. Joel Wayagwag also replaced Lt. Col. Alexis Bravo as the task force commander, who earlier quit his post as commander of the 27th IB. “We are hoping that the tension there would slowly subside following the replacement of troops there,” he said....
