MATATAL, MAIMBUNG, Sulu – Eleven (11) Abu Sayaff Group (ASG) members voluntarily surrendered to LTC JAMES ERASMUS F GAGNI INF (GSC) PA, Battalion Commander of the 41st Infantry (Partner for Peace) Battalion, 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division, Philippine Army last July 22, 2021 at Sitio Bato Haba, Barangay Matatal, Maimbung, Sulu.
Supported by the Intelligence Operations and Civil Military Operations thru the strong partnership and cooperation of Maimbung LGU headed by Hon. Hja. Shihla Tan-Hayudini and PNP counterparts, 11 local terrorists voluntarily surrendered themselves to the 41st Infantry (Partner for Peace) Battalion, bringing along with them their firearms; two (2) Garand rifles, one (1) M203 grenade launcher, one (1) cal .45 pistol, and one (1) cal .38 magnum pistol.
The surrenderees are identified under ASG sub-leader @Doctor Abu, @Apoh Mike, Raden Abu, Ben Wagas, Alden Bagadi, and Mujiv Susukan.The ASG surrenderees were later presented by LTC GAGNI to BGEN ANTONIO I BAUTISTA JR PA, Commander, 1101st Infantry (GAGANDILAN) Brigade, 11ID, PA and subsequently presented to MGEN WILLIAM N GONZALES PA, Commander of 11th Infantry (ALAKDAN) Division at Headquarters 1101st (GAGANDILAN) Brigade, Mt. Bayog, Brgy Samak, Talipao, Sulu last July 22, 2021 where they took their pledge of allegiance as a demonstration of their commitment in denying ASG in their respective lives and to promote peace as they return to the folds of law.
The 41st Infantry “Partner for Peace” Troopers will steadfast to its Triad Operations (FMO, Intel and CMO) in order to support the government’s program to stop the terroristic activities of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in the Province of Sulu.
