SAGAY CITY, Negros Occidental— The Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry ‘Masaligan’ Battalion was accorded with “Gawad Kalinaw” Plaque and Campaign Streamer by Central Command, AFP during the awarding ceremony held in 79IB Headquarters, Brgy Bato, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

Lieutenant General Roberto T Ancan AFP, the Commander of Central Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines assisted by Colonel Michael Samson, Deputy Brigade Commander of 303IBde, awarded the Campaign Streamer Award and “Gawad Kalinaw” plaque to 79IB for dismantling Northern Negros Front, Komiteng Rehiyon- Negros Cebu Bohol Siquijor (NNF, KR-NCBS).

Meanwhile, five (5) Masaligan troopers received Silver Cross Medal for their gallantry in action during the conduct of several focused military operations.

In his message, Lt.Gen. Ancan lauded the Masaligan troopers for their relentless efforts that led to the dismantling of the Guerilla Front operating in Northern Negros.

“Congratulations Masaligan for a job well done. Thank you for your untiring dedication and contribution to the accomplishment of the CENTCOMs mission. Now that you have achieved your goal in dismantling Northern Negros Front, your next mission is to protect the gains, prevent CNT recovery efforts and sustain the peace and development in Northern Negros”, said Lt.Gen. Ancan.

“Let these gains serve as an inspiration for us to strive more, not only to win the peace but to pave the way for new opportunities to the Negrenses”, Lt.Gen. Ancan added.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel J-jay T Javines, 79th IB Commanding Officer, also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the previous Battalion Commanders of 79IB for the efforts they put into in dismantling the NNF.

“We are very much honored for this award, and this would not be made possible without the support of our stakeholders and peace loving constituents of Northern Negros”, Lt.Col. Javines added.
