Posted to the Kalinaw News Website (Jul 28, 2021): Army extends help to abandoned dead NPA member in Agusan del Norte
KITCHARAO, Agusan del Norte – On July 27, 2021 at around 11:30 in the afternoon, the dead body of the NPA has finally been turned-over and claimed by his family at Alfranz Funeral Homes, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.
It can be recalled that last July 23, 2021, troops of the 29th Infantry “Matatag Fighters” Battalion clashed with the members of the Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) under Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) 16A, Guerilla Front16 of North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) at So. Cabadiangan, Brgy. Jaliobong, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte which killed one of its member, later identified as Alfredo Sajol Jr, 26 years of age and a resident of Brgy.10, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.
Despite the heated armed engagement, troops of 29IB strived to carry and bring down the cadaver of the fallen CNT member who was left and abandoned by his comrades. Then after, he was turned-over to the Brgy. Kagawad of Jaliobong, accompanied by the Deputy COP of Kitcharao Munipal Police Station who delivered initial assistance from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kitcharao. The cadaver was properly attended to at the Alfranz Funeral Homes. Troops provided security until he was claimed by his family.
Mao man gyud siguro ning mga NPA, ilang dal-on bisan asa lang nila ilubong. (My son suddenly disappeared after telling his sister that he will find a job in Davao since then, we didn’t hear anything from him. I rely on my son when it comes in helping me take care of our eggplants. My son is very kind. When we have found out about this happening, we were dismayed. But despite that, we really looked for a means to claim my son. My siblings helped me because I could not do it on my own, because I am not used to talking. I can’t just be complacent about it but I don’t really expect it to be like this. It hurts so much. I have nothing else to say but gratitude to you Sir that my child has been recovered and has been well taken cared. I owe you a lot. I owe you so much because you really made an effort to recover and get him. I don’t know with these NPAs, I think they’ll just take (our children) everywhere and then bury them anywhere. I don’t know if I will be informed, or if I can still see my son, or even know if he’s still be dead or alive.)
Lieutenant Colonel Aristotle F. Antonio, Commanding Officer of 29IB condoles with the family and extends his deepest sympathy,” We know, it must have been too much for the father to carry such burden and pain with the loss of his son. A son whom he cared and guided for a long time but was instantly taken away and deceived by the CNTs with their lies. If we don’t stop this CPP-NPA menace in our society, how many more sons and daughters are we going to let die in vain. Soldier’s and NPA’s alike, fellow Filipinos. We urge everyone to help end this local communist armed conflict.”
