CAMP Siongco, Maguindanao – Six members of the local terrorist group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) surrendered to 40th Infantry Battalion were presented in a ceremony on Thursday (October 8, 2020) to Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division Commander Maj. Gen. Juvymax R. Uy.

These former rebels under the Karialan faction came from Barangay Midconding and Barangay Kulasi both in GSKP town of Maguindanao province. They brought along with them the following firearms one Garand Rifle, Homemade Barrette Rifle, Homemade RPG, M79 Grenade Launcher and Garand Rifle. The said firearms and ammunitions were presented to the commander of 6th ID in the simple ceremony at 1:30 in the afternoon.

One former terrorist who asked not to be named said the continuous military operations against them have confined their movement and limiting their access for food. They also had to transfer from villages to another to escape the military focused operations. JTFC and 6th ID Commander said that he was happy for the group in their decision to go back to the mainstream society.

“I would like to congratulate the troops of 40th Infantry Battalion for this effort to work hand-in-hand with the other government enforcement that led to the surrender of these CTGs.

Maj. Gen. Uy assured the erstwhile rebels that the government would help them through a livelihood program and join the mainstream society to live peacefully with their families.
