CALOOCAN CITY, Sept. 3 (PIA) -- The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Gilbert I. Gapay to the rank of four-star general at the Senate of the Philippines in Pasay City.
In a statement sent to the PIA-NCR by the AFP, Senator Panfilo Lacson said that the Commission on Appointments' Committee on National Defense found that Gapay and 29 other senior officers are all "fit and qualified for the ranks given to them."
The CA confirmed the ad interim appointment of Lieutenant Generals Franco Nemesio M. Gacal and Jose C. Faustino Jr. It also approved the promotions of Major Generals Gilbert F. Saret and Alfredo V. Rosario Jr.

The Commission previously confirmed the ad interim appointments of 15 other generals and senior officers on Aug. 24.
The promotion of new officials indicate not only the recognition of their excellent service to military but more importantly the bigger responsibilities they have to hold in order to help attain the AFP’s mission
The AFP accords premium importance in the promotion of its members, which is an essential component of the military’s morale and welfare program.
“I am optimistic that this milestone in our military service will bring us further motivation as we continue to dedicate ourselves in the service of our country and people. We will perform our mandate with zeal and prove that we are worthy of living up to the stars and suns the national government has bestowed on our shoulders,” Gapay said. (PIA NCR)
