ILIGAN CITY, Sep. 3 (PIA)--The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) - Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office (LDN PFO) participated in the launching of Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) spearheaded by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA-X) - Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office (LDN PFO) on 6 August 2020 at the Hinterland of Sitio Kalamalamahan, Rogongon, this city.

DOLE-X LDN PFO Chief Remegio D. Cabañog said this is part of the initiatives of the partner national agencies in compliance with the Executive Order No. 70 or the End of Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).

The DOLE- X LDN PFO, as a member of the PRLEC, joined the said significant launching and awarded Certificate of Entitlement for livelihood assistance in the form of starter kits to 34 former rebels who returned to the folds of the government. The livelihood starter kits cost a total of PhP680,000.00 with each individual beneficiary receiving PhP20,000.00.

Cabañog said the starter kits were distributed individually to the former rebels which form part of the commitment of DOLE to assist and encourage them for a restart of good citizenry of the Republic of the Philippines.

Cabañog further said, “Each beneficiary will receive the said starter kits after completing their respective skills training conducted by TESDA.”

Bolocon and the majority of the former rebel-beneficiaries are from the hinterlands of Iligan City and Bukidnon and were former New Peoples Army members operating in the said locality. Upon defecting from the rebel group, they relocated to Barangay Rogongon, this city, for they could not take anymore the hardships as antagonists of the government. Most of the beneficiaries are unemployed, thus the livelihood starter kits are meant to get their lives back and start anew. (DOLE-X LDN PFO)
