Posted to Kalinaw News (Aug 16, 2020): 3 NPAs who desired to become better parents to their children, surrender in AgNor
KICHARAO, Agusan del Norte- Three regular members of the New People’s Army (NPA) who desired to become better parents to their children, voluntarily surrendered on August 14, 2020, at headquarters 29th Infantry “Matatag Fighters” Battalion stationed at Brgy. Del Pilar, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.
The said NPAs were identified as alias @Milan, 28 y/o and her partner @Cris, 26 y/o who are both from Brgy Anticala, Butuan City. They have four children and were under the Sangay Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) 21C. The third surrenderee Alias @JR, 28 y/o of Brgy Padiay, Sibagat, Surigao del Sur, has two children and was under the Sangay Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) 21A, of the Guerilla Front Committee (GFC) 16, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Command (NEMRC).
The surrenderees brought with them one (1) Cal. 5.56mm Rifle Bushmaster (SN:7618024) with magazines and eighty-five (85) rounds of serviceable ammunition; one (1) AK47 CZ with defaced serial number with magazines; sixty-eight (68) rounds of serviceable ammunition; and one (1) improvised explosive device (IED).
(The NPAs have convinced me that if I join them, they would help and support my family. They also told me that I could be an instrument in helping my fellows who have suffered greatly because of the lack of support from the government and its biased system against the poor just like me. They have deceived and have blinded me. And so, for some years I was away from my family during which time I failed to fulfill my role as a father to them. But now, I realized how much I miss my children. I wish that it’s not yet too late to reunite with my family. I hope it’s not too late to change and make things right.”)
Alias @JR said, “Mga bakakon ang mga NPA. (NPAs are liars. They made me believe that I could better serve and provide for my family if I would join them. Their lies were of the sweetest promises, but none of it was true. I realized that I just wasted my time serving with the NPAs which I should have spent with my children. I regret such a decision and now, as I surrender I am fervently hoping for a far better opportunity to change and live a normal life so I could guide my children on the right path and give them a better future.”)
In a statement, Lt. Col.Isagani O. Criste, Commanding Officer of 29IB said, “I want you to know how proud I am of you as parents because you surrendered and desired to change for the better.
Perhaps it’s easy to condemn or judge you for your regrettable decision of joining the NPAs. But I know that just like the others, you were also a victim of their lies. I want you to know that it’s not yet too late for you to change and become a good father or mother once again to your children.”
To all others, I plead with you once again to surrender while there is still time. Our government is not perfect nor the people who lead before us but I know that it’s doing its best to help and provide for its people. We just need to support it, because going against it or waging war is never the solution to obtain peace”, Criste emphasized.
