KIBAWE, BUKIDNON –Establishment of good rapport and gaining trust are the main ingredients of 16th Infantry (Maglilingkod) Battalion in conducting Community Support Program (CSP) that resulted to the voluntarily surrender of three (3) Milisyang Bayan (MB) members of the New People’s Army in the area of Kibawe, Bukidnon.
Morning of August 15, 2020, two (2) members of Milisyang Bayan (MB), a certain alias LONGHAIR and alias JES, voluntarily surrendered to the CSP Team of the 16IB at Brgy Kisawa, Kibawe, Bukidnon. They brought along with them one (1) Springfield US Model of 1917 and one (1) Homemade Shotgun Gauge 12 with one (1) magazine and one (1) live ammunition. In addition, alias LONGHAIR revealed that there is another MB member who is also a resident of the said barangay.

On the same day, CSP Team proceeded to the location and conducted a dialogue to a certain, alias UMIS. During the dialogue, he freely admitted that he was also a MB member and voluntarily surrendered one (1) homemade shotgun.

Community Support Program is a community and issue-oriented AFP operational concept employed in conflict affected areas. It is a multi-stakeholder, community-based and people-oriented peace and development effort with the end-goal of establishing a disaster and conflict-resilient communities.

This peace-building initiative of the government in the communities creates a positive impact to the local populace and even to our fellow brothers and sisters who were deceived by these Communist Terrorist Group (CTG). Their voluntary surrender shows that they really felt the efforts of the government in attaining peace and development and saw that the government is really serious in ending this local communist armed conflict.
