In his SONA, Duterte should applaud and congratulate himself and his armed minions for spreading COVID-19 nationwide and increasing those infected and dead by the tens of thousands. How did they achieve their undeniable resounding triumph.

First, Duterte allowed more than 500,000 Chinese tourists and casino players to enter the Philippines for more than two months after the well-known outbreak of COVID-19 in China.

Second, Duterte and his armed minions carried out lockdowns in urban areas, deprived people of livelihood, failed to deliver ayuda and forced people (especially the odd jobbers) to go to the provinces in order to survive and unwittingly to spread the COVID-19 contagion.

Third, the Balik-prubinsiya program repeatedly urged the people to gather at hub points and infect each other before being transported to the provinces if at all.

And fourth, there is now an “enhanced” campaign to arrest people, terrorize mass protesters and dump them in overcrowded jails and cramped spaces and enable COVID-19 to spread faster among those detained.

On top of all the above, Duterte and his armed minions should congratulate themselves for covering up their crimes and blaming the people for being “pasaway” in need of the brutal measures to teach them “discipline” or state terrorism.
