MADRID, Surigao del Sur– One (1) NPA Cadaver was recovered by the Joint Retrieval Operations conducted by 36th Infantry Battalion and 75th IB troopers last 17 – 24 July 2020.

The Joint Operations were conducted in response to the information given
by a certain Aka Dark former member of GF30 who voluntary surrendered to this unit. He identified one of his comrade who unfortunately died during the encounter between the government troops in the mountainous portion of So. Kiskis. Brgy Siagao, San Miguel Surigao del Sur last 18 May 2020. The cadaver was known as Dondon Montenegro Suazo Aka Hill a former member of Pltn 1 GF30, Manobo and son of Mrs Bernandita Montenegro Suazo a resident of Sitio Libas Brgy. Sibahay Lanuza Surigao del Sur.


According to Aka Dark they abandoned Aka Hill after the government troops successfully seized their hideout in the mountainous portion of So. Kiskis, they fled into different directions to escape, they are facing in dire need of food, health care and rest. “Many of my former comrades got low morale and wants also to surrender because of hardships and futile belief, but they are afraid that they might be killed by their NPA leaders”. He said.

Mrs Suazo the mother of aka Hill said that his son asked permission to go on work in Leyte in order to support the needs of their family and he promised to go back home on the next month. “Wala jud ko kabalo nga mao na na trabaho ang gisudlan sa akong anak” she added for her own dialect.

Lt. Col Jezreel J Diagmel, Commanding Officer on his statement. “I am calling to those members of NPA still hiding in the hinterlands of CANMADCARLANCORTAN to come down in peace, lay down your arms and return to the folds of the law while there is still time and opportunity. The government intervention and packages will be given to those who chose the
path of peace and wants to be with their families. “We urge to end the insurgency and we will do everything in our capacity to protect the people in the province of Surigao del Sur. He added.

Meanwhile, the troops of 36IB facilitated the turn-over of cadaver to the family in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Lanuza Surigao del Sur for his decent burial. (1LT RODANTE A SOSO, Acting CMO, Officer, 36IB)
