Kalinaw News: Government extends support to Former Rebels amidst COVID-19

Posted to Kalinaw News (Jul 26, 2020): Government extends support to Former Rebels amidst COVID-19

IMPASUGONG, BUKIDNON– A total of 39 Former Rebels (FRs) who surrendered to the 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion (8IB) received additional assistance from the government amidst the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic at 403rd (Peacemaker) Brigade, Impalambong, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon yesterday.

A total amount of PhP 312,000 was released during the Distribution of Financial Assistance for the FRs who received PhP 8,000 each. It is a special fund release from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 10 intended for FRs who are not part of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). The said cash assistance will sustain the daily needs of the FRs amid the COVID-19 crisis.

@Hawi, one of the FRs expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the overflowing assistance they received from the government. (I thank the government, the military, and the DSWD for the tireless support and assistance they have given to us. Recently, I just received my livelihood and immediate assistance worth PhP 65,000 and availed of the housing assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA).

(This is just one of the many programs of the DSWD. The government has no other dream but to help all those who returned to the government. We hope that you will continue to return to the folds of the law because we will not enjoy peace and development if we are always in turmoil and chaos. Your DSWD and AFP are one of the operating arms of our President to provide assistance.)

(I am indeed grateful for the continuous help of DSWD and other government agencies to our brothers and sisters who chose to return to the folds of the law. Truly, the crisis that we are facing right now did not hinder the government in extending its services to our FRs. We, together with the partner agencies, will continue to help our FRs to alleviate their living conditions.)

Last July 16, 2020, 67 FRs availed of the Housing Assistance Program of the NHA amounting to PhP 450,000 each at Headquarters 8IB. Also on July 20, 2020 another 67 FRs received a total of PhP 2.5 million financial assistance as part of the benefits from E-CLIP.
