The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Thursday that a platoon leader of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), his wife, and two other female cohorts were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Cotabato City on Wednesday (Jan. 22) where P3.4 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) was also seized.

PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino identified the suspects as Johare Adam Talib, alias Alex/Sare, platoon leader of MILF 105th Base Command and his wife, Rahma Kalibu Talib, alias Bai Rakma/Machulig; and the two female cohorts, Kandong Pait and Norma Panes.

The suspects were apprehended at around 4:35 p.m. by joint elements of PDEA Regional Office BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) under the supervision of Director Juvenal B. Azurin, PDEA Regional Office XII, and local police at the vicinity of Cotabato City Plaza on Makakua Street.

Talib’s two children, aged four and two. who were with them in the multi-cab van during the buy-bust operation were turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

The arresting team also confiscated from the suspects a sando bag containing 10 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing more or less 500 grams, one green tactical bag containing one mobile phone, Talib’s passport, six identification cards, the multi-cab van, and the buy-bust money.

The suspects will be charged for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
