CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – An armed lawless group (ALG) leader and 4 of his followers have surrendered to government forces this morning (December 30, 2019).

Assisted by the local government of Pagalungan, the ALG members surrendered to Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion and 602nd Brigade bringing with them one M16 rifle, one locally made shotgun, and one rocket propelled grenade.

The surrenderers are led by a certain Commander Kinis Biya along with his four followers: Target Mulao, Allan Caballero, Bansil Mantikayan and Nastro Timan. They are members of the ALG in the area of Southern Ligauasan Marsh and residents of Sitio Balikakaban, Brgy Dalgan, Pagalungan, Maguindanao.

Brig. Gen. Roberto Capulong, Commander of 602nd Brigade, said that their surrender have prevented the group from completely joining the Dawlah Islamiya or Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, which is prevalent in the Liguasan area.

The formal surrender transpired at 602nd Brigade Headquarters in Camp Lucero, Brgy Nasapian, Carmen, North Cotabato.

“I am grateful to the local government of Pagalungan that helped influenced the group’s leader and his followers to return to the folds of law,” said Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon.

The surrenderers are currently at the temporary custody of the local government of Pagalungan after they were released at 602nd Brigade Headquarters.
