TACLOBAN CITY, Nov. 14 (PIA) -- The local government units of Mapanas and Lapinig, both in Northern Samar, have organized on November 11, their respective Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC).
In the same occasion, both Task Forces also passed their respective resolutions declaring the CPP-NPA persona non-grata.
The meeting which was held in Mapanas was attended by the members of both towns’ Municipal Development Council and Municipal Peace and Order Council.
Before the creation of both Task Forces, the Regional Task Force-ELCAC 8 Situation Analysis and Knowledge Management Cluster presented the salient points of EO 70, Call to Action while the DILG-Northern Samar gave a briefing on Retooled Community Service Program and the role of the LGUs in the EO 70. The 803 Brigade presented the ECLIP while the 20th Infantry Battalion Commander gave a briefing on the Security Situation in Mapanas and Lapinig and its adjacent areas.
Mapanas Mayor John Tejano and Lapinig Mayor Maria Luisa Menzon expressed their gratitude for the attendance of all government agencies concerned during the activity.
Although, they were not able to place a Tarpaulin indicating the Resolution and statement declaring the CTG as Persona Non Grata, they promised to implement it as soon as possible. 20IB Commander will follow up said compliance.
Another highlight is the signing of the Pledge of Commitment by the members.
Aside from the two Mayors, present during the activity were RD NICA 8, Colonel Oliveros, 803 Bde commander, Ltc John Gullem, Bn Comdr of 20IB, 8ID,PA, DILG 8 NS Provincial Director Danny Laguitan, NS PPO PCol Dela Cruz, and MLGOOs of Mapanas and Lapinig municipalities. (PIA-8)
