IMPASUGONG, BUKIDNON,Nov 8 – Fifty former rebels who surrendered to the 8th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army received the ECLIP assistance from the government amounting to Php 2, 754, 800. 00 inside Camp Osito Bahian, Impalambong, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on November 8, 2019.

The amount received was the assistance of the Philippine Government under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program intended to help the former rebels who already yielded and chose to live a peaceful life together with their families.

The awarding was attended by the representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 10, Department of Social Welfare and Development R10, PNP-Bukidnon, and Philippine Army.

Dival and Jenecel, a couple, former NPAs who brought their M16 Rifles, left the NPA group and submitted themselves to the government gladly received their assistance worth Php 400,000.00.

This will help them to have a fresh start together with their two children. They said that they are very fortunate being among the recipients of the Government’s ECLIP and thanked the government for giving them a chance to live a normal life.

Ms. Yvette Tolentino-Sunga, the Assistant Regional Director of the DILG Region 10 called on the recipients to give importance on the cash assistance they have received.

“Please use your money wisely. That is not a payment for your surrender but an assistance from the government to help you start a new life. The ECLIP is not going to be forever.”

In addition to the cash assistance, the TESDA has been preparing these former rebels by giving them livelihood training and they are now prepared to use what they have learned using their money.

Likewise, Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Illana, commanding officer of the 8th Infantry Battalion said that the unit is still open to accept and help those who want to surrender and avail of the the ECLIP especially the NPA members of the Sub- regional Committee 1 and 2 of the North Central Mindanao Regional Command.
