Camp General Manuel T Yan Sr., Mawab, Compostela Valley- The 71st Infantry Battalion (71IB) of the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division (10ID) and one team from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Pantukan Municipal Police Station (MPS) responded to a civilian report of harassment by lawless elements in Brgy. King King, Pantukan, Compostella Valley on November 25, 2019.

The 71IB and Pantukan MPS conducted a joint law enforcement operation wherein a two-minute firefight ensued against the lawless elements. There were no casualties on the government side while one lawless element suffered a gunshot wound and was apprehended.

The troops were able to recover one (1) M14 rifle, (1) M16 rifle, (1) M203 grenade launcher, about 300 rounds of various ammunition, nine (9) M14 rifle magazines, five (5) long and five (5) short M16 magazines, and two (2) bandoleers.

The wounded lawless element was immediately evacuated to the nearest hospital for proper treatment while 71IB and Pantukan MPS filed appropriate charges.

Meanwhile, Major General Jose C Faustino Jr, Commander 10ID commended the troops for the successful conduct of focused military operations which resulted to the apprehension of a certain David Orsanay and the capture of numerous firearms. “With people supporting our effort in maintaining peace and order in our area of responsibility, these lawless elements have no place to run.”

“More than bodycounts and firearms, 10ID shall continue to push for total neutralization of lawless elements and other threat groups. We further urge the public for continuous commitment to be part of our endevour to attain geniune peace and inclusive development,” MGen Faustino added.
