CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – A high ranking Terrorist Leader of the Communist Party of the Philippines, New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) was arrested in Cardinal Santos Hospital, San Juan City around 7:30 this evening, 25 November 2019. The suspect was identified as Mr. Jaime Dimaculangan Padilla, also known as Delio, a Spokesperson and Central Committee member of the CPP-NPA group.

Padilla carries several warrants of arrest for murder, multiple attempted murder and kidnapping among others, in the areas of Mindoro. He is also said to be responsible for the massive recruitment of minors and students as NPA combatants, some of whom were identified as battle casualties in a legitimate encounter with government troops in Laguna and Batangas. Padilla was brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Philippine National Police (PNP) for legal processing and custody.

His arrest was the result of the active support from the community who gave the authorities information leading Padilla to be tracked down and some of his other comrades. The AFP and PNP are now closely conducting joint operations for the arrest of other identified CPP-NPA terrorist leaders and members.

The responsive and successive AFP-PNP operations is a manifestation of the initiatives of the Task Force to end local communist armed conflict in the country, as mandated by the Executive Order 70 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Meanwhile, the government still calls on to the leaders and members of CPP-NPA who want to heed to the call of peace and reconciliation, to finally return to the fold and accept the government’s assistance through its E-CLIP program.
