Soldiers were still in the clash site, according to Lt. Col. Socrates Faltado, spokesperson of the regional Mimaropa police.
In a text message, Faltado said policemen were on an intelligence-gathering operation in the area when they encountered the rebels past 10 a.m.
As of posting time, police have yet to determine if there were wounded fighters from the side of the NPA.
Consequently, officers of the municipal police stations in Palawan and other platoons of PMFC, in coordination with counterparts in the Philippine Army, established checkpoints in a bid to net the armed men, who figured in the gun battle.
