NSFA, Panacan, Davao City - A three-classroom school building was turned over to the Department of Education and Tribal Community at Sitio Mesolong, Brgy. Sto. Niño in Talaingod, Davao del Norte on October 24, 2019.
Lt. General Felimon T. Santos Jr., Commander of Eastern Mindanao Command led the Inter-Agency Group in turning over the completed school building project which is under the KALAHI CIDDS of DSWD, which responds to the education needs of IP communities while preserving and promoting their unique culture and heritage was turned over.
It can be recalled that the Eastmincom, DSWD, Tribal Council of Talaingod, Municipal Local Government of Talaingid and Barangay Local Government of Sto. Niño entered into an agreement to consolidate their effort under the concept of "Bayanihan" in October 2018 for the said project after no contractor wanted to carry out the construction because of the distance and due to the presence of Communist Terrorist Group during the supposed time of construction.
The 534th Engineer Battalion undertook the construction supported by the 56th Infantry Battalion.
During the course of construction, the laborers coming from the community contracted for the project have undergone skills coaching and training from the military builders of the 534th Engineering Battalion and TESDA XI through the "Skills Training while Building" scheme.

“Ang proyektong ito ay sumisimbolo ng pagkakaisa, ‘di lamang para mabigyan natin ng magandang kinabukasan ang inyong mga anak sa pamamagitan ng edukasyon kundi pati na rin ang pagpapanatili ng tunay na diwa ng pagtutulungan at kapayapaan dito sa bayan ng Talaingod," Lt. Gen. Santos Jr. said.

“Katungkulan ng bawat magulang gayun din ang mga guro kasama ng mga kawani ng gobyerno na antabayanan ang pagpapalaganap ng mga turong matuwid at mabigyan ng tama at nararapat na edukasyon ang mga kabataan na siyang pag-asa nang ating bayan. Napakahalagang sila ay maturuan ng magagandang asal at mga makataong gawain upang ng sa ganun ay magkaroon sila ng matibay na pundasyon hindi lamang sa buhay pansarili kundi pati narin buhay panlipunan tungo sa ikabubuti ng lahat,” he added.

Faustino Jr. AFP, Commander of 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army; DepEd District Supervisor Justiniano D. Cubar; NCIP and DSWD KALAHI-CIDDS-CCL Talaingod headed by Mr. Allan Causing; Col. Rommel R. Hinlo, Commander of 52nd Engineer Brigade; Col Nolasco A. Mempin, Commander of 1003rd Infantry Brigade; Tribal Council of Sitio Mesolong headed by Datu Linasud Sibugan; and Talaingod Mayor Jonnie A. Libayao.
