Posted to Kalinaw News (Sep 9, 2019): Army joins KBP’s Oplan Broadcastreeing 2019 in Caraga

Bancasi, Butuan City – Troops of the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade joined the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Tree Planting activity dubbed as “Oplan Broadcastreeing 2019” held at the Taguibo Watershed, Barangay Taguibo, Butuan City and Barangay Patong, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur this morning, Saturday, September 07, 2019.

A total of one-thousand (1,000) Mahogany and Cacao trees were planted by more or less one-hundred (100) KBP members and stakeholders coming from Butuan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), Fraternal Brotherhood of Eagles Club, Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Fraternity/Sorority, National Commission for Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), members of the GPTA of Father Saturnino Urios University and the 29IB and 402nd Brigade of the Philippine Army.

Likewise, troops of the 36IB under the 402nd Brigade in Surigao del Sur also participated in the Oplan Broadcastreeing 2019 led by the KBP Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur Chapter held at Brgy Patong, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur. Two-hundred (200) KBP members and partner stakeholders planted more than one-thousand (1,000) Cacao and Lawaan Trees.

Oplan Broadcastreeing is an annual tree planting event spearheaded by the KBP simultaneously conducted in the pre-designated and identified areas in Caraga. It helps promote awareness on the preservation and protection of the environment in support to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) as a shared responsibility in contributing to the mitigation of the effects of Global Warming and Climate Change.

Col Maurito L Licudine, Brigade Commander of the 402nd Brigade said, “Aside from our traditional role confronting the armed threat brought about by the CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNT), your Army is mandated to support the DENR in environmental projects and programs. The Executive Order No. 23 or Creation of Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force strengthened the resolve of both agencies to stop illegal logging and intensify the reforestation program of the government.”

Col. Licudine expressed that the soldiers participation in the Oplan Broadcastreeing 2019 of the KBP is a manifestation of the Army’s dynamic partnership with the media in pursuit of peace and development in Caraga region. “We laud the KBP Chapters led by Mr. Ramil Bangues of Butuan City and Ms Judith Suarez of Tandag City for initiating a project beneficial to our next generation. This is another testament of the Whole of Nation Approach in building disaster and conflict resilient communities”, Col Licudine stressed.
