AgNor IP community disowns CPP-NPA

From the Philippine Information Agency (Sep 9, 2019): AgNor IP community disowns CPP-NPA (By 23IB Philippine Army)

BUENAVISTA, Agusan del Norte -- A Higaonon Indigenous People’s Community in Agusan del Norte declared recently the Communist Party of the Philippines, New People’s Army, National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF), and their allied organizations and its supporters persona non-grata.

The declaration was passed through a Barangay Resolution initiated by the barangay council, tribal leaders and the residents of Barangay Lawan-lawan, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte.

The weary IP community who were fed-up by the deception and manipulation of the CPP-NPA terrorists (CNTs) condemns and renounces their affiliation to any CPP-NPA organizations for killing of many tribal leaders and recruiting IP youths to be members of armed group.

“Let us not give the CPP-NPA a chance to once again deceive, manipulate and use our tribe especially the new generation,” said Punong Barangay More Migduyan. Let us renounce the CPP-NPAs and protect our tribe, as what you can see, our Brgy is on its developing process and it is far different from what it looks like before. Let us cut any ties and support to them until they will no longer exist in our area, Migduyan added.

Moreover, Lieutenant Colonel Francisco L. Molina Jr, Commanding Officer, 23rd Infantry Battalion expressed his gratitude to the barangay council and tribal leaders of Lawan-lawan for withdrawing their support from the CNTs.

“I am glad that without a second thought you showed support to the government on its campaign of putting an end to the Local Communist Armed Conflict in your area. Indeed, you made the right decision. Let us continue to work hand-in-hand in solving insurgency," Molina added. (1Lt. Roel T. Maglalang, CMO Officer, 23IB PA/PIA Agusan del Norte)
