Camp General Artemio G Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City – At around 10:20 this morning, troops under 24MC, MBLT4 while conducting security operation in connection with the assistance provided to the DENR PALAWAN, encountered an estimated five (5) Communist Terrorists (CTs) at Brgy. Calasaguen, Brookes Point, Palawan. The troops immediately engaged the Communist Terrorists that lasted for about 10 minutes prompting the CTs to withdraw towards different directions. One of the government troops was wounded but is now in stable condition while undetermined casualty on the enemy side. More troops were sent to the area to pursue the CTs.
No less than the municipal mayor of Brookes Point, Palawan requested the Commanding Officer of MBLT4 to assist the DENR personnel in response to the rampant illegal logging in the area. It was unfortunate, however, that the Communist Terrorists have chosen to disrupt the enforcement of environmental laws by government authorities.
