TALAKAG, Bukidnon – Two (2) Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army Terrorist (CNT) subordinate leader and member died in an encounter with 65TH Infantry STALWART Battalion (65IB) at an uninhabited area in barangay San Rafael, Talakag, Bukidnon, 7:50AM today, August 11, 2019.
An information was received from a concerned citizen that there are CNTs presence in the vicinity of Brgy San Rafael that prompted 65IB to launch its operations for the safety of the residents, especially former members of Milisya ng Bayan (MB) who surrendered, and Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad (SPL) and Underground Mass Organization (UGMO) who withdrew their membership from the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and National Democratic Front (NDF) respectively.
Government troops were on security operation in the abovementioned barangay when they encountered Squad 1, Platoon 1 under @ Kira of Sub Regional Sentro de Gravidad (SRSDG), Sub Regional Committee 5 (SRC 5) under North Central Mindanao Regional Command (NCMRC). Firefight lasted for 10 minutes after which the enemy scampered in different directions.
The troops recovered the two (2) dead bodies of CNTs, two (2) M16 and one (1) M14 riffles on the encounter site. The cadavers will be properly turned-over to PNP MPS Talakag for proper disposition and identification.
“It is very unfortunate that we lost Filipino lives today when two (2) NPA terrorist died during an encounter with the troops of 65th Infantry Battalion. This could not have happened if the leaders of this terrorist organization did not deceive and offer lies to its members, and the poor farmers and Lumads in the area, which forced them to take up arms against the government.” Lt. Col. Benjamin Pajarito said.
The government offers the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to those remaining CNTs who wants to abandon the armed struggle and desires to live a peaceful and productive life with their families.
“The 65TH Infantry (Stalwart) Battalion is willing to help NPA terrorists who wish to surrender. We will assist them for enrolment under the ECLIP, just like what we did last month during the mass surrender in San Rafael, Talakag, Bukidnon. Their benefits are on process for their immediate assistance and livelihood assistance for regular members of NPA and interventions for the members of SPLs and UGMOs. I call on the remaining NPA terrorists not to waste your time in the failed armed revolution, these are the times that you should spend with your families and love ones, free from fear and intimidation” Lt.Col. Pajarito added.
