BAYUGAN CITY, Agusan del Sur – The 8th Special Forces Company (8SFC), 3rd Special Forces Battalion (3SFBn) in coordination with the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PHILFIDA) CARAGA and the Liga Ng Mga Barangay of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur held a 2-day abaca livelihood training to 37 former NPA supporters and now members of Peace Prosperidad Farmers’ Association (PPFA) at the social hall of barangay Libertad, Prosperidad, ADS from August 19 to 20, 2019.

The occasion was attended by Hon. Alejandro Dumaguit, ABC President, Hon. Nena M. Tampepe, Punong Barangay of Libertad, Major Adrian Q. Muana, Commanding Officer of 8SFC, and Mr. Justiniano M. Orina, Jr., Head of Technical Assistance Unit of PHILFIDA Caraga Region.

It can be recalled that from December 15, 2017 to January 18, 2018, a total of more or less 60 NPAs and Mass Supporters surrendered to the 3SFBn in Prosperidad as a positive result of the Community Support Program (CSP) in the said municipality. A total of 37 farmers out of more or less 60 ex-NPA and mass supporters availed the program while others were reintegrated in mainstream society and presently living their lives in peaceful and normal situation as stated in the provisions of Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) offered by the government.

Meanwhile, E-CLIP is a program that provides skills training, basic services, benefits and support to the Former Rebels while PHILFIDA provides Technical Assistance and Advisory Services Information, Education and Communication Support Services for Farmer’s Groups and Agriculture Technicians of the Local Government Units (LGUs) Training Services.
