TAGO, Surigao del Sur, July 18– Another 92 NPA member and supporters surrendered again to the Army’s 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion (36IB), yesterday July 17, 2019, held at Madrid Gymnasium, Poblacion, Madrid, SDS.
The mass surrender is composed of eleven (11) regular member on lie low status, one (1) Sangay sa Partido sa Lokalidad (SPL), three (3) Milisyang Bayan (MB) and seventy-seven (77) Under Ground Mass Organization member (UGMO) withdrew their support from local communist movement and surrendered to LTC Xerxes A Trinidad thru the Community Support Team deployed in Brgy, Bayugo of Madrid, Brgy Pakwan of Lanuza and Brgy Cabas-an of Cantilan all of SDS.
Said surrenderees were presented and took their Oath of Allegiance to Government which were administered by their respective Local Chief Executive (LCE).
According to the Army CSP, the 92 FRs decided to voluntarily surrender because they saw the sincere gesture of the government in addressing the needs of the community especially in the marginalized and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
“We realized that we supported the wrong organization. We thought that the government protects only the interest of the few. But, we’re just deceived, the CNTs make us believed thru their sweet talks and false promises to arouse us and instil hatred and discredit the government,” one of the surrender SPL said.
Just recently, 20 FR also voluntarily surrendered to army CSP last July 15, 2019. In just a week, a total of 112 NPA members and supporters awakened by the deception and lies of the CNTs that mislead their lives to misery.
The growing numbers of surrenders and shift of support of the masses to the government is getting bigger and en masse which indicates that the grasp of the CNTs to the community that once served as their solid ground is now eradicating and a proof that the mass has already awakened by the deception and lies of the CNTs that mislead their lives to misery.
In his statement, Ltc Xerxes Trinidad, Commander, 36IB said that the relentless efforts of the CSP teams with the support of the local government leads to the successful surrender of the 92 FRs.
“With the sincere desire of the community to achieve lasting peace and developed community, Convergence of efforts and working hand in hand is proven effective in achieving the peace that we are longing for,” Army official said.
“We are appealing to those remaining CNT members to surrender now and return to the folds of the law. Lay down your arms and avail the ECLIP, the government intervention package for FR’s. ” Lt Col Trinidad concluded.
The 92 FRs will be processed and validated for their enrollment to ECLIP, a government intervention package for Former Rebels. (1Lt Jonald Romorosa, CMO, 36IB, PA).
