From the Philippine News Agency (Jun 19, 2019): AFP, PSA, Landbank ink pact on improving pension services

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) as part of the ongoing efforts to improve services to military pensioners.

In a statement Wednesday, Col. Noel Detoyato, AFP public affairs office chief, said the MOA signing took place at the General Headquarters Building in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Monday.

The principal signatories to the MOA were Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa of the PSA and LBP Executive Vice President and Head of Branch Banking Sector Liduvino Geron.

Witnessing the signing of the agreement were LBP Senior Vice President and Head of South NCR Branches Group Ramon Monteloyola, PSA OIC-Assistant National Statistician Ronaldo Taghap, Chief of AFP Finance Center Brig. Gen. Rufino Ramoran Jr., Chief of AFP Pension and Gratuity Management Center (AFPPGMC) Brig. Gen. Luis Vincent Tacderas, and Col. Emilio Pajarillo of the AFP Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel.

The MOA among the three agencies aims to improve services to existing AFP pensioners and active AFP personnel applying for retirement.

The agreement will also ensure accuracy of the pension payroll to prevent deceased pensioners from receiving pension, integrity of transactions, protection of the pension funds, and continued service to active AFP personnel and existing AFP pensioners.

The event also saw the introduction and testing of the proposed AFPPGMC Online Pensioners Biometrics Validation System Project that will provide a process to check and validate pensioners data.

Also in attendance were representatives from different stakeholders, including the Association of Generals and Flag Officers, Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc., National ROTC Alumni Association, Inc., and the Veterans Federation of the Philippines.
