CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to improve services to AFP pensioners in a simple ceremony held on Monday, 17 June 2019, at the Silid Lapu-Lapu, GHQ Building, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Principal signatories to the MOA were Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa of the PSA and LBP Executive Vice President and Head of Branch Banking Sector Liduvino Geron.

Witnesses to agreement were LBP Senior Vice President and Head of South NCR Branches Group Ramon Monteloyola, PSA OIC-Assistant National Statistician Ronaldo Taghap, Chief of AFP Finance Center BGen. Rufino Ramoran Jr., Chief of AFP Pension and Gratuity Management Center (AFPPGMC) BGen. Luis Vincent Tacderas, and Col. Emilio Pajarillo of the AFP Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for
Personnel.

Generally, the MOA between the AFP, PSA, and LBP will endeavor to improve services to existing afp pensioners and active afp personnel applying for retirement.

The agreement will also ensure accuracy of the pension payroll to prevent deceased pensioners from receiving pension, integrity of transactions, protection of the pension funds, and continued service to active afp personnel and existing afp pensioners.

The event also saw the introduction and testing of the proposed AFPPGMC Online Pensioners Biometrics Validation System Project that will provide a process to check and validate pensioners data.

In his remarks, AFP Vice Chief of Staff LtGen. Salvador Melchor Mison Jr. declared that the agreement and project “…is a testament of AFP’s commitment to safeguard pension funds and provide adequate service to our pensioners.”

LtGen. Mison also thanked the PSA and LBP “…for acknowledging the necessity of improving our systems and processes that will significantly enhance our services to better improve capability to deter and prevent pension funds losses.”

The ceremony was attended by representatives from different stakeholders, including the Association of Generals and Flag Officers, Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc., National ROTC Alumni Association, Inc., and the Veterans Federation of the Philippines.
