CAMP DATU LIPUS MAKAPANDONG, Awa New Leyte, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – More communities and local government units (LGUs) in this province have added to the growing number of areas which have declared the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) “persona non grata”, according to Capt. Edwin Leo J. Francisco, Civil Military Operations (CMO) officer of the Army’s 75th Infantry (Marauder) Battalion (75th IB), on Tuesday.

In a statement sent to The Manila Bulletin on Tuesday (April 16), the 75th IB CMO officer claimed that there are now more LGUs in Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur that has declared the CPP-NPA as “persona non-grata”.

The new municipalities that joined in declaring CPP-NPA as “persona non-grata” were San Francisco, Bunawan and Rosario, all of the province of Agusan del Sur (ADS) under the operational jurisdiction of 75thIB, 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division (4th ID).

The first town in the second District of Agusan del Sur to declare the rebels as “persona non-grata” (April 5) was San Francisco after the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) headed by Mayor Jenny Asis signed and passed the resolution.

The municipality of Bunawan seconded the declaration last Thursday (April 11) through the guidance and help of the province of Agusan del Sur and other stakeholders.

The town of Bunawan headed by Mayor Edwin Elorde is now prepared to attain long-lasting peace and development and is now willing to participate in the socio-cultural and economic programs of the government, the 75th IB CMO officer said.

The most recent was the town of Rosario after Mayor Jose Cuyos approved the resolution signed by the MPOC members a day after Bunawan’s declaration, he added.
