Police authorities are on the lookout for a suspected gunrunner who eluded arrest during a raid at his house in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday.

Citing a report from Tacurong City’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Lt. Col. Aldrin Gonzales, speaking for the police in Region 12 (Soccsksargen), identified the object of the operation as Orly Datua Utto of Purok Saranay, Barangay San Pablo in the said city.

"The suspect was not at his house at the time of the raid. He remains at large,” Gonzales said, adding that the operation formed part of their “Oplan Paglalansag Omega”, the implementation to rid the locality of loose firearms.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Alandrex Betoya of the Regional Trial Court Branch 16 in North Cotabato, elements of the CIDG-Tacurong City, backed by the local police force, swooped down on the suspect’s house around 5:30 a.m. but failed to get their target.

Instead, the raiding team seized from the suspect’s house a Colt .45-caliber pistol, one magazine for Uzi machine pistol, one magazine for .380-caliber pistol, one magazine for 9mm pistol, four pieces of 9mm ammunition, 30 pieces of 5.56mm ammunition for M16 rifle, eight pieces of 40mm grenade ammunition, a bandolier for 40mm ammunition, and a concealment pouch for 5.56 mm ammunition.

Gonzales said the suspect is now facing charges for illegal possession of firearms.
