Sulong along with his 17 followers voluntarily surrendered and laid their arms to 2nd Lt. Dennis Gamos, Executive Officer of 33rd IB Alpha Company, at Sitio Lubunon, Brgy. Midtungok in Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat.

Sulong said that they wanted to be cleared by the soldiers after being recruited as the first line of defense of the NPA group.

“Ka Makmak issued us weapons to defend ourselves in case the soldiers will enter our village. My main job is to raise crops in our communal farm,” he said.

If qualified, former guerillas will be enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) where they can receive cash and livelihood assistance from the government.

They will be formally presented to Senator Ninoy Aquino Mayor Randy Ecija Jr. on October 8, 2018. 6IDKampilan / MCAG
