From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Nov 26): ACTIVATION AND BLESSING |  Naval Air Group Welcomes TC-90 Aircraft T/N NV 390

NAVAL BASE HERACLEO ALANO, Sangley Point, Cavite (DWDD) – The Naval Air Group (NAG) of the Philippine Navy has blessed and activated one of the first batch Beechcraft TC-90 maritime aircraft on November 21, 2017, held at the Naval Base Heracleo Alano in Sangley Point, Cavite City.

The first activated TC-90 aircraft with tail number NV 390 has its new paint scheme. The navy call it “Haze Gray,” the war paint of the Navy, designed to make its vessels and aircraft tougher to see. TC-90 NV390 is one of the first two TC-90 maritime patrol aircraft from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) that was turned over to the Philippine Navy on March 27, 2017.

The Philippine Navy is waiting for three more to be transferred by the first quarter of 2018. A total of 5 Beechcraft TC-90 King Air aircraft was donated to the Philippine Navy by the Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD).

Japan hopes that the donation of the five planes will enhance the Philippines’ ability to protect its waters and help the country better deal with Chinese efforts to build military facilities in the South China Sea.

The Philippine Navy now has four checked out TC-90 Naval Aviators, The Naval Air Group has two more Naval Aviators who are now undertaking flight training at the 202nd Educational Air Corps of the Tokushima Educational Aviation Group.

The last two naval aviators are part of the 3rd and final batch of TC-90 military pilots who will train in Japan. A total of six naval aviators was sent to the 202nd Educational Air Corps of the Tokushima Educational Aviation Group. MCAG / Naval Air Group, Phil. Navy
