NASUGBU, Batangas (DWDD) – 12 individuals believed to be NPA terrorists are undergoing investigation for possible involvement in the recent encounter with Government forces at Brgy Utod, Nasugbu, Batangas on November 20, 2017.

They are undergoing verification by PNP-Nasugbu after being caught during a checkpoint.

According to Brigadier General Arnulfo Marcelo B Burgos Jr, Commander of the 202nd Infantry Brigade which supervises the operations of the 730th Combat Group of the Philippine Air Force under Major Engelberto Nioda, “The said checkpoint was set up in order to prevent the armed terrorist from fleeing from the encounter site.”

Major General Rhoderick M Parayno, Acting Commander of the AFP’s Southern Luzon Command, said that the ongoing hot pursuit operations have fractured the large group of terrorist who were involved in the said encounter. “Civilian reports consistently revealed that the terrorists are still hiding within the vicinity of the encounter site.”

MGen Parayno added that the encountered troops of the 730th Combat Group will serve as witness to verify the identity of the apprehended individuals to check if they are the same individuals present in the encounter. “The full might of the people’s government will ensure that these terrorists will be brought to justice. This is our commitment to the Filipino People for a peaceful and progressive society void of terrorists.”

Appropriate charges will be filed against the said 12 individuals upon further verification.

Meanwhile, hot pursuit operations of forces from PNP Cavite, PNP Batangas and troops of 2nd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army are still ongoing. 2DPAO/MCAG
