President Rodrigo Duterte met the commander of United States Pacific Command, Admiral Harry Harris Jr. on August 23.
The two discussed matters regarding United States-Philippines alliance. According to US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim the discussion was “very good.”

President Duterte was joined by Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año.
Accompanying Harris were Kim, US Embassy Defense Attaché Col. Ernest Lee and MGen. Jeffrey Kruse.
