Communist Party of the Philippines leader Benito Tiamzon said over the weekend that President Rodrigo Duterte assured them during a meeting Friday, December 2 in Davao City that Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) with the United States will be revoked.
“That’s what we really talked about on Friday evening,” Tiamzon said in an interview with Davao Today Saturday. “He gave his guarantee that he will revoke it (EDCA).”
Tiamzon added that Duterte assured them that an independent foreign policy will be adopted. “Sabi niya tiyak yun na course of action habang siya ay Presidente,” he said.
The President met with National Democratic Front (NDF) Peace Panel members Fidel and Chit Agcaoili, Benito and Wilma Tiamzon in Davao City December 2.
