BRP Ramon Alcaraz now in Cam Ranh, Vietnam for 6-day port visit

From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 6):  BRP Ramon Alcaraz now in Cam Ranh, Vietnam for 6-day port visit

BRP Ramon Alcaraz (FF-16), one of the Philippine Navy (PN)'s most modern warships, has arrived in Cam Ranh, Vietnam Monday for six-day port visit which will also feature some interaction and training with their Vietnamese counterparts.

Major Wallie Sanaani, Naval Task Group 80 public affairs chief, said the 300 Filipino contingent aboard the BRP Ramon Alcaraz consists of the latter's crew, surface warfare students, medical team, naval special operations team, the ship's AgustaWestland AW-109 helicopter detachment and Naval Task Group (NTG) 80.5.

The Filipino frigate's visit to Vietnam will last Dec. 12. She is expected to participate in an exercise with the VPN, practicing drills for code for unplanned encounters as Sea (CUES), communication exercise (COMMEX), Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX), and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).

He added the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) to PN delegation to show their warmest welcome to the visiting members of the PN.

NTG 80.5 head Capt. Dennis Rommel Quines also met with Navy Zone 4 vice commander Senior Capt. Vu Van Tien at the Cam Ranh International Port and they discussed about the program of activities during the visit.

The purpose of the visit is to maintain and strengthen the diplomatic relationship between the two nations and strong partnership in the field of maritime security.

BRP Ramon Alcaraz left Pier Manila South Harbor for Vietnam last Dec. 2.
