From InterAksyon (May 9): Alleged ranking rebel nabbed in Davao City
An alleged leader of the New People's Army in Southern Mindanao was captured by security forces in Davao City a day before the elections.
Arnulfo Laborada Mantes, 45, allegedly the secretary of Sub-Regional Committee 5 and concurrent head of the Regional Political Military Academy, was arrested on the strength of warrants for murder and robbery in Barangay 76-A, said Captain Rhyan Batchar, 10th Infantry Division public affairs office chief.
Batchar said Mantes has allegedly planned and led several NPA operations in Bukidnon and Davao del Norte and was also engaged in extortion.
