From DWDD the AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (May 7): PRE-ELECTION CLASH | Army, NPA Encounter in Oas, Albay

CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City (DWDD) – Three (3) days before the elections, at around 5 p.m. of May 6, a squad of the 2nd Infantry Battalion encountered three (3) NPAs in Brgy Casinagan, Oas, Albay while on combat patrol.

The five (5) minute firefight yielded no casualty on both sides, however, the troops recovered one (1) bandoleer, 5 M16 magazines and a back pack at the encounter site.

As the election nears, Army units continue to conduct Internal Security Operations targeting the NPAs in order to preempt them from conducting atrocities that may disrupt the elections. PIO SOLCOM / MCAG
