From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 10): Police, Marines arrest 3 for gun possession and illegal drugs in Maguindanao

Police and military authorities arrested on Tuesday afternoon in Maguindanao three persons for possession of firearms and illegal drugs, police said today.

Chief Inspector Allan Uy, chief of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Maguindanao office, identified the suspects as Digo Dampas alias Digo, Norhana Samadalan and Norman Guiamad.

Uy said joint police and members of the Philippine Marine Battalion Landing Team 5 arrested the suspects by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Bansawan Ibrahim of Regional Trial Court Branch 13 in Cotabato City.

He said the suspects were arrested during the implementation of "Oplan Paglalansag Omega" in Barangay Romongaob, Timanan proper, South Upi, Maguidnanao.

"They did not resist arrest but denied they are into illegal drug trade," Uy told reporters.

The raiding team recovered three hand guns from the suspects, ammunition, 10 sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride, known as shabu, and shabu parahernalia from the suspects.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 have been prepared against the suspects who are now detained at CIDG office in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-ARMM) based in Cotabato City.

The suspects are also facing election gun ban violation.
