From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 17): Female military officer killed, 3 others hurt in Quezon landslide mishap

A female military officer was killed while three of her companions were injured after the vehicle they were riding in got caught in a landslide in Infanta, Quezon province Wednesday night.

The accident took place at 11:35 p.m. at the National Road along Barangay Magsaysay, Infanta town.

1st Infantry Battalion commander Lt. Col. Christopher Tampus identified the fatality as 1st Lt. Michelle Mae Dilos Delariarte, 25, civil-military operations officer and the three injured as 2nd Lt. Sarah Jane Yepes Bagasol, 24; Cpl. Cherryl Esguerra Ramirez, 24 and Cpl. Renato Cayanan Villanueva, 32.

All of the victims are assigned to the 1st Infantry Battalion which is headquartered at Barangay Tongohin.

The four were aboard an Isuzu Crosswind and headed back for camp when they got caught in a rain-induced landslide, causing it to turn violently, banging its passengers inside, with Delariarte getting the worst beating. She died on the spot.

The victims had just came from Manila where they brought supplies for their Dec. 18 Christmas party.

Rescuing units immediately extricated the three injured victims and transported them to the nearby Claro M. Recto Hospital while Delariarte's remains were taken to the St. Peter's Funeral Homes.
