Police bomb experts successfully discharged a homemade bomb
found around 2:00 p.m. Monday along Pansacala Extension, Barangay Rosary
Heights Mother here.
Alert residents reported the bomb, rigged from a 60 mm
mortar explosive with timing device, following its discovery near the road.
The area was immediately sealed off and electric power was
temporarily shutdown as cops moved residents to a safe distance prior to the
bomb detonation procedure.
A short, loud blast and power was immediately restored after
the bomb was properly disposed.
The bombing attempt came as the Commission on Elections
officially declared Oct. 12 as the start of the filing of Certificates of
Candidacy for political aspirants in connection with the 2016 national and
local polls.
