155 Army personnel benefit from Comelec's voter registration project

From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 12): 155 Army personnel benefit from Comelec's voter registration project

At least 155 personnel from the Capiz-based 3rd Infantry Division benefited from the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Jamindan's initiative to conduct voter's registration activities on military personnel last Oct. 8.

Major Ray Tiongson, 3rd Infantry Division public affairs office chief, in a statement Monday, said the 155 personnel were composed of 34 officers, 100 enlisted personnel, 14 military dependents and seven civilian employees.

Heading them was 3rd Infantry Division commander Major Gen. Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero.

The initiative was aided by a computerized voters’ registration process in preparation for the May 2016 elections.

Tiongson said the activity aimed to provide an opportunity for the 3rd Infantry Division personnel to update their records especially for the reactivation and transfer of their registration.

Likewise, personnel of the unit, who are first-time registrants, were given a chance to register for them to exercise their right to suffrage as responsible citizens of the Philippines.
