Philippine Army (PA) commander Eduardo M. Año was formally
donned his lieutenant general's stars Monday.
Pinning these ranks of insignia was Armed Forces of the Philippines
chief-of-staff Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri.
This took place 10 a.m. at AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo ,
Quezon City .
Año took command of the 85,000-strong PA last July 15,
replacing Iriberri who was appointed to head the AFP in July 10.
The PA chief was promoted Ad interim, on the orders of President
Benigno S. Aquino III, last July 23.
He was accorded military honors shortly afterwards.
The PA chief dedicated his promotion to all his officers and
enlisted personnel.
He also vowed to continue the improvement of the PA's
standard of performance, deliver gains and positive results, boost the morale
and welfare of the soldiers, and be more responsive to the needs of the people.
Año is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of
1983.
