A civilian turned over six 60mm mortar rounds to troopers of
the 33rd Infantry Battalion which is under the Task Force Central of
Maguindanao-based 6th Infantry Division.
The ordnance were discovered along the national highway in
Barangay Kauran, Ampatuan town, Maguindanao on April 5, unit spokesperson Capt.
Jo-ann Petinglay said in a statement Tuesday.
She identified the civilian as Nasrudin Demalanes, a
resident of Barangay Kauran.
The 60mm rounds were brought to Tacurong City
for proper disposition.
“The support of the local populace has greatly contributed
to the security efforts of the AFP and PNP, especially in pursuing these
lawless groups responsible for the series of bombings and other criminalities
in the province. Thus, we acknowledge and commend Mr. Demalanes for turning
over to the authority the discovered 60mm mortars,” Western Mindanao Command
head Lt. Gen. Rustico O. Guerrero said.
