From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 7): Six 60mmm mortar rounds recovered in Maguindanao roadside

A civilian turned over six 60mm mortar rounds to troopers of the 33rd Infantry Battalion which is under the Task Force Central of Maguindanao-based 6th Infantry Division.

The ordnance were discovered along the national highway in Barangay Kauran, Ampatuan town, Maguindanao on April 5, unit spokesperson Capt. Jo-ann Petinglay said in a statement Tuesday.

She identified the civilian as Nasrudin Demalanes, a resident of Barangay Kauran.

The 60mm rounds were brought to Tacurong City for proper disposition.

“The support of the local populace has greatly contributed to the security efforts of the AFP and PNP, especially in pursuing these lawless groups responsible for the series of bombings and other criminalities in the province. Thus, we acknowledge and commend Mr. Demalanes for turning over to the authority the discovered 60mm mortars,” Western Mindanao Command head Lt. Gen. Rustico O. Guerrero said.
